What is Access Cinema ?
There are many ways a venue can improve
its accessibility, including good physical access to the building and
having large print brochures available. The venues participating in
this project also offer enhanced facilities for disabled people in
the form of audio reinforcement, audio description and soft-subtitling
facilities during designated cinema screenings.
What is Soft-Subtitling
Subtitles appear at designated screenings (not during
every show). Subtitles are projected onto the cinema screen, to enable
deaf and hard of hearing people who cannot hear the audio track to enjoy
the film. The subtitles describe the soundtrack as well as reproduce
the dialogue.
What is Audio Reinforcement

Audio reinforcement amplifies
the film’s sound track and the headset user will hear the same
audio as the rest of the audience.
What is Audio Description
This is
audio description of the film, played over headsets, for blind and
visually impaired people who are unable to see the picture. Audio description
describes the action taking place as well reproducing the film’s
dialogue, and is available at all screenings where the film is released
in this format.
